Hi, I’m Jeshal, and I work for the IRS.
Do you have a simple tax return, but don’t have access to a computer or the internet to file it electronically?
Or, would you like to e-file your tax return, but you’re not sure you can do it alone?
If so, we offer a free and easy way you can do it yourself, with an IRS-certified volunteer who is ready to help.
Depending on your income you may qualify to use this self-preparation service at one of our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or VITA sites across the country.
Go to our website to see if you qualify for the service, and to find the closest location that offers the self-prep option.
You’ll also find a list of what to bring, such as your W-2’s, Social Security numbers for you and your dependents, and more.
You’ll be able to use a computer and free tax software at the VITA site to complete and e-file your own tax return.
At the same time, you’ll learn how to file future tax returns all on your own.
But if you’re still not ready to do it yourself, don’t worry.
Volunteers at the VITA site will prepare your tax return for you.
To find a VITA site near you that offers the self-preparation service, just go to www. irs.gov/vita.
