When We’ll Send the Third Payment

The third round of Economic Impact Payments are being sent in phases. If you haven’t received one yet, it doesn’t mean you won’t.

Each week we’re sending the third payments to eligible individuals as we continue to process tax returns. Payments are sent by direct deposit or mail as a check or debit card. The IRS is mailing Notice 1444-C to people who received a third Economic Impact Payment.

The IRS is working with federal agencies to get updated information for recipients to ensure we are sending automatic payments to as many people as possible. More information about when these payments will be made is provided in the March 30 news release and the April 14 news release.

Status Messages

You'll see one of these messages when you use Get My Payment:

  • Your payment has been scheduled and it will be sent on the date shown by direct deposit or mail. If your payment is by mail, you will receive an EIP  debit card or a check. The amount of your third Economic Impact Payment is not shown.

or

  • You’re eligible, but a payment has not been processed and a payment date isn’t available yet.

We’re unable to show your payment status because:

  • Your payment has not been processed yet.

or

  • Your return was processed. We don’t have account information available for you and your payment has not been issued yet.

or

  • The Postal Service was unable to deliver the third Economic Impact Payment and returned it to the IRS.

For details, see Need More Information frequently asked question.

First and Second Payment Status

The first and second Economic Impact Payments no longer appear in Get My Payment.

To find the amounts of these payments, view or create your online account. You can also refer to Notice 1444 for the first payment and Notice 1444-B for the second payment. The IRS mailed these notices to your address of record.

The third Economic Impact Payment will not be used to calculate the 2020 Recovery Rebate Credit.
