The expanded employment tax e-file option was among the Office of Management and Budget’s e-gov priorities.

Statement by Mark Forman, OMB Associate Director for Information Technology and E-Government

"A majority of the 5.8 million employers in the US currently file their employment taxes on paper.   As the IRS begins to provide employers with an enhanced electronic filing option, this new Employment e-file System will further reduce the paperwork burden for businesses which is one of the goals of the President's E-Gov initiatives."
