OAKLAND – The Internal Revenue Service's new Taxpayer Assistance Center at 2525 Capitol Street in Fresno will open for business at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16. The current IRS office at 5104 N. Blythe will close at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday September 11 because of the move.

The Fresno Center will continue the same regular daily public service hours at its new location: Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Taxpayer Assistance Center employees provide personal tax help when issues cannot be handled online or by phone, and taxpayers want face-to-face tax assistance.

The new office is located in the Fresno Civic Center Square District in downtown Fresno. The building is a two story, steel framed, brick clad office building with an underground parking level.

The building location offers convenient access to other government offices, restaurants, banking, postal services and other retail conveniences. Easy access to public transit and freeways are within one-half mile of the building.

Federal tax information is also available anytime on this Web site.  Fresno area residents can also call the IRS toll-free for assistance at 1-800-829-1040. The closest alternate IRS office is in Visalia at 625 N. Akers St.
